Entrusting your loved one’s care with our team at Adventist Aged Care is a great privilege and responsibility for our carers.

In our Meet the Carer series we get to know the people behind the scenes who run our day-to-day operations and care for our residents.

First up, we’d like to introduce you to Adventist Aged Care Village Administrator Angela Baglin.

Tell us about your role and how you came to Adventist Aged Care?

“I’ve been with Adventist Stage Care for a little over seven years now, and my position is Village Administrator. I look after the Retirement Village, or the Independent Living residents. My sister actually attracted me to Adventist Stage Care. She’s a resident here, and I was most impressed with the way she described the community, the care, particularly the Christian values. That was really important to me.”

What motivates you in your role as Village Administrator?

“I want to see that residents are well cared for. I think it’s at a stage of life when they are vulnerable. They have needs of care from us, and just making sure that their lives are comfortable and happy is a really good thing.”

What does a typical day look like for you?

“No two days are the same. It’s very busy. The first thing I do is check our incident reports from the previous night. Sometimes there may have been a Nurse Call through the night from one of our residents. I usually follow up with those to make sure those residents are okay. Through the day, it’s ensuring that the maintenance needs of our residents are met in terms of progressing or met on a daily basis. Looking after enquiries to the Retirement village, people wanting to come here, people wanting to go on our wait list, and ensuring that from a perspective of looking after the place that things are kept neat and tidy.”

What’s the best thing about your job?

“The best thing has to be working with the people. Our residents here are awesome. They’re very funny. The biggest misconception is that they are at a stage where they don’t necessarily understand or know what’s going on around them. It’s all about listening to them and hearing them. They do have a voice, and I think that’s the most important thing.”

How would you describe the residents?

“They’re amazing people that have lived very big lives, and by the time they get here, it’s so lovely to sit down and chat to them and hear about all the things they’ve done in their lives. It’s just lovely. I love the residents and I really care for them.”
