Fees and charges levied by residential aged care services, such as Adventist Aged Care, are regulated by the Commonwealth Government and can vary depending on a number of factors, such as whether you are a pensioner or non-pensioner and your level of assets.
There are 3 payment components for entering Aged Care:
Accommodation Bonds: This is for your accommodation payment. Some people will have their accommodation costs met in full or in part by the Australian Government, while others will need to pay the accommodation price agreed with the aged care home. Eligible residents who are admitted to Adventist Aged Care have the choice of paying a Refundable Accommodation Deposit (RAD) or a Daily Accommodation Payment (DAP) or a combination of both. Residents have 28 days after admission to decide their method of payment. Basic Daily Fee: A basic daily fee is used to contribute towards your day-to-day living costs such as meals, cleaning, laundry, heating and cooling. Everyone entering an aged care home can be asked to pay this fee.
Means-tested care fee: This is an additional contribution towards the cost of care that some people may be required to pay. The Department of Human Services will work out if you are required to pay this fee based on assessment of your income and assets , and will advise you of the amount.
